Ettore e Andromaca

The farewell between Hector and Andromache is one of the most vibrant themes of Homer’s Iliad. Andromache emerges as a woman, a wife and mother: Hector as a man, husband and father, both destroyed by these three entities that confuse them, tear them apart, making them deeply human. The author, at a conference on the subject held in Florence in 1903, draws and enhances every movement and every word according to feelings that only occasionally demonstrate the passage of time and that indeed, today, seem to express a savage modernity.
